Brief

Yūgen is a travel magazine concept designed for the unconventional traveller.

My approach

I designed the cover and 2 internal spreads, as well as the overarching brand name and concept for the magazine. The name Yūgen derives from the Japanese concept, loosely translated as a profound, mysterious sense of beauty. These values are reflected in the design and the ethos behind the magazine; 'the beautiful unknown'. The spreads use deep colours and layering to reflect the mystery and exploration associated with unconventional destinations.
